Praise then darkness, and creation unfinished

I was walking through Penn Station on my way to work this morning. Many of the shops on the LIRR concourse will happily sell you bread, muffins, and similar breakfast and lunch food. I noticed a signboard advertising "St. Patrick's Day Specials." The first entry was, unsurprisingly, Irish soda bread. The third was hamantaschen.

The specials last night at Trattoria Spaghetto included corned beef; an appetizer of smoked salmon and asparagus; and "green pasta."
