I think I need a few quaint ethnic rituals.

I've just made myself a lovely pot of camomile and limeflower tea, which is sitting on the stöchen, and I have the room lit by candlelight.

Of course, this is more of a nightly ritual than a seasonal one; I like tea and candles.

You are, of course, welcome to join me any night you happen to be out on Long Island (at some point after I get back from the UK).

Urg, my bad. Stövchen. Basically, a tea-warmer; it's a stand that you place your teapot atop, with a tealight underneath. The flame keeps the pot nice and warm while you drink your tea.

Ah. Thanks for that extra 'v', I think I could have winkled out the meaning of "little stove", but without it I was confused.

You have already established the seasonal tradition of visiting us for New Year.

I've been referring to Christmas as a quaint ethnic ritual, sometimes appending "You may have heard of it" ever since the Ross Pavlac thread on rasseff.

Eat lots of pork, said the vegetarian.

We have a tradition of having fish and chips and red wine with a couple of friends on Christmas Eve (we didn't do that this year because we were out of town). We also have the tradition of doing Christmas Day with [livejournal.com profile] d_h's family, with their traditional foods, and Boxing Day (Dec 26th) with just the three of us and my family's traditional foods.

And New Year's eve with bubbles.
