Haven't caught up on the past day's posts yet, but just for the record: I've always found you an easy person to be around. It helps that we respect each other, like each other, and have similar values. I can see folks who have trouble "reading" you finding you less easy to be around, but that's an affinity issue or bad fit, not YOU.
You are not "easy to be around" in the sense that, whether I am responding in your journal or talking to you in person, I find myself needing to be more decent and thoughtful than I might otherwise. It's sometimes easier to be in the presence of a total jerk, as that grants implicit permission to be a total jerk right back at them. Nearly any discussion of politics provides ample evidence of this.

That's part of what I was thinking of. Also that I consider it inappropriate to go out in public if I can't act like an adult.
