I know I'm in a domestic mode, given that what I find myself wanting to talk about is largely food.
My mother came up to visit me and
cattitude yesterday. She arrived just as the ice cream maker was finishing a batch of stracciatella (thanks for the suggestion,
papersky). Basically, we all three sat around and talked, and after a while I handed around lemon and stracciatella ice cream--both were good, but the lemon was the big hit. I'll be making that again, or maybe trying for orange or chocolate orange or tangerine.
We spent a while discussing computer- and security-related stuff; in the course of that, I created a new LJ account for her, so she can read my friends-only posts. (She'd forgotten the old password, and no longer has that email address.)
Cattitude roasted a chicken, and the stuffing was sufficient to convince Mom to stay for dinner. It was all a very pleasant afternoon and evening, and nice not to feel rushed. Also pleasant was that when I mentioned possibly visiting
adrian_turtle, she said that she didn't think most people could do the sort of polyamorous relationships I am, but as long as Cattitude is happy, that's fine. I told her that she's probably right about the former, but that I've found people who can (*smile*), and that so far, he's happy.
After we walked Mom to the subway, stopping in the park to admire the moon and explain the upper-atmosphere ice crystals that produced the gorgeous colored ring around it, I checked in with Cattitude. He confirmed that yes, he'd tell me if he had a problem with my other relationships or my amount of time away, adding that it was possible--in this as in other things--that it might take him a while to notice.
I expect we'll all be fine.
