working at home: a slow morning

My FedEx package was mis-labeled, and hence almost certainly won't arrive until the afternoon. On the other hand, Edie says hers was labeled correctly and isn't there yet either. The sensible thing would probably be to see what if anything I need to buy downstairs, and then duck out just to get fresh air and sunshine for a few minutes. It's only -2 (C).

In the meantime, I'm doing what I can on formatting and such without the books to refer to, and trying not to strain my eyes too badly. I thought I was okay last night, but they started to hurt very soon after I first looked at this computer this morning.

cattitude is on his way to work, having braved what turned out to be a half-hour line to buy tickets at the nearest Metro North (commuter rail) station.

Always Look on the Bright Side

Since I'm working from home, when I finished at 6, I could go into the kitchen and start melting butter and chopping things, and now there are apple cakelings in the oven. (This is also an opportunity to actually open the kitchen window a bit, for fresh air, without being too cold.)

This doesn't make up for not being able to restock on my favorite tea, nor for all the larger hassles other people are dealing with, but it's something. If the TWU is still on strike tomorrow, I may try banana bread, since we have what are looking like overripe bananas, and a loaf pan.

There is something remarkably cozy about answering the phone and finding that it's adrian_turtle—hoping to talk to cattitude. (It was a practical question that she thought he might have an answer to; I think she's resolved it by now.)
