I've done more resume updating/polishing, in part because I realized that the version labeled "resume-edit.doc" in my system was from 2002. So I spun a new "resume-editorial" off of the global version, polished it slightly, and have something I hope will do the job. A medium-term "to do" item would be to organize the assorted resumes, figuring out which ones are relevant for specific purposes (a tech support job wants different information than an editorial one, for example) and which are simply out of date. And either make a list, rename them more coherently, or both.

When I finish this cup of tea, I'll be calling someone about possible freelance work: the person I used to be doing proofreading for/through is now at a different company, and someone sitting near her mentioned needing people for a social studies project. I can do this. This is the definition of "freelance" which means "we need you in our office full-time for a few weeks", rather than the definition that means "we'll send you work, which you'll do and send back." Fine with me.

I think I need a few quaint ethnic rituals.

I have registered with del.icio.us (still in alpha, a shared/social bookmark project) as vicki, and ought to do something with it when I'm feeling more alert. (That I could get that username tells me it's not widespread yet; I wonder if I should have tried for vr.)

My essential to-do list for the day was short:

  • Wash my hair

  • Go to the drugstore

The hoped-for part was

  • Finish the current round of freelance proofreading

I did all that. I also:

  • Made two posts to my Weblog, on very different subjects

  • Updated my resume

  • Got in touch with someone about possible freelance work, and sent her my resume

  • Rough-drafted a limerick, on request, for an lj-acquaintance

  • Went to the supermarket, as well as the drugstore, and managed not to get too wet on that trip out

And, of course, the usual amount of fidgeting about, LiveJournal support, reading my friends list, two good games of Scrabble, playing with [livejournal.com profile] julian_tiger and trying not to be bitten, and of course meals and tea.
