I called the New York office of the temp agency this morning. As I expected, they didn't have any immediate proofreading openings, but the woman asked my name and said they'd keep me in mind. (This seemed like a necessary step because the person I'd been working with, in the Long Island office, told me she didn't have access to New York City listings--and hasn't returned either of my phone calls from last week.)

I have got to actually look at usernames or icons, not just the colors I've assigned my friends. I just answered a poll of
stealthpup's, a perfectly straightforward thing--but I thought it was
yonmei's journal, because I've given them the same color on my friends list.

A woman I've done freelance copyediting in the past just called, to see if I can work on a book for her. I can: we'll be meeting next week to talk it over, and she'll want the job by mid-December. We both save time, and she saves some money, because she's incorporating the papers I've edited for her in the past into this book (she's sole author, so it's entirely kosher). She also asked if I do indexing, but I've never done that, and this doesn't seem the time/place to start.
This is someone who originally got my name from
baldanders: thanks again.
