I just sent the last piece of this translation/polishing project off. (The deadline is noon tomorrow Tokyo time--that's 11 p.m. here--so I told Megumi I'll try to check this evening in case of any questions.)

This gives me the afternoon to play, or whatever, and means I can go downtown and hand Kevin these NYRSF pages, if I can't convince him to stop by and get them.

Oh, for the record,
yesterday's workout )

I also deposited both a check for freelance work (from last month's invoice) and a check for money taken from my mutual fund in my checking account. With that and the electronic transfer from savings (made when I realized I wasn't going to get downtown for anything Monday), the bills will be okay for the moment.

When I sent off the last chunk of the document (at something like 3 a.m. Tokyo time), I told them I'd be checking email in case they had any questions. (Had I gone out, that would have been one late-evening check; since I'm cooking dinner, I did it at what seemed like a convenient time.) So, of course, Megumi has found another reason to dislike the term "we", and wanted a revision. Okay, one quick revision later--including more use of the passive voice, and places where "our goal" is now "the goal"--and it's back to Tokyo.

It's not my document. I knew it would be corporate-speak when I started. (But the reward for doing this, other than 4.9 yen/word, will be the chance to do more of it. *sigh*)

But I just had a very nice braised lamb shank for dinner--this time the recipe in Fannie Farmer worked, despite some fudging (a little less lemon juice and a little more water, few carrots because I only had the peeled "baby" carrots). It was all nice and tender and lemony; next time the onion goes in sooner, I think.
