I made oatmeal for lunch today, for myself and
cattitude. Since I'm avoiding dairy a little longer, and didn't like soy milk in my hot chocolate, I just did without.
Oatmeal with plenty of maple syrup, cinnamon, and dried fruit (cherries and blueberries) is a fine thing. I think it stayed slightly chewier than with milk or cream. I like it a little better with the dairy, but not on a level of feeling deprived, more the way that I prefer peach pie to apple, though both are good.

Yes, I use 'home-made oat milk' for muesli and porridge ... that is to say, I let the oats do their thing with the water I put on :-)

I use the rolled oats all the time for cookies.
