I went to DSW this afternoon in search of sneakers, and found a pair that I think fits. "I think" because it's hard to tell much in a few minutes in the store, but the return policy is "within sixty days, as long as you haven't worn them outside."

What I found are New Balance men's size 8; part of why I went to DSW is that I wanted someplace where I wouldn't have to argue with the staff about the gender of my shoes. Before finding these, I tried two other pairs of New Balance sneakers in the same size.

If these fit well, I will look for another pair in a color I like better. These are part white, and part a sort of light gray-green, which isn't what I would have chosen, but it was the only pair they had out in that model and size.

I stopped on the way home at Lizzy's, and got a chocolate orgy cone, and two pints (strawberry and chocolate) for the freezer.

Oh, I'd love those colors, but haven't been able to get anything other than black, white, or "bone" for some time. I wear an 8 1/2, but I think both our sizes are very common women's sizes and less common for men. About half of my NB shoes have been so-called men's shoes. It's indeed quite silly for anybody to argue with you about it.

Fingers crossed that you have found something that works for you!

FWIE I am a New Balance men's 8 4E, and I have found great pricing on places like shoes.com, when they are offering "discounts". Because NB is wonderful at being consistent with their sizing. The issue for me can be how the pronation or supination is set up in the shoe.

And if folks question the assigned gender of a shoe I want to look at then I ask them if they are always in the habit of telling a customer that they are wrong. Or if they want to lose a sale. Or if they realize that the men's designated shoe is made with better quality materials which are thicker and more durable.

(The latter was most effective when I was shooping at Bass and I had them pull both kinds of penny loafers in my size and they could literally see the difference. That and the women's isn't made in my width)

If the don't want us to argue about the gender of shoes, stop insisting on pink trim and the like!

Ooh, chocolate orgy cone sounds wonderful.

Hub and I used to order a dessert that a local restaurant called Death By Chocolate: a big ball of chocolate ice cream with every kind of chocolate add-in. Sounds like this might be similar.

Why do shoes even NEED to be gendered? I get that only feminine people want certain styles and only masculine people want others, but if we're talking boots or running shoes, the style is for all-genders.
