After work today, I walked down to Rusk and visited Soren. After some confusion with a not-very-competent person at the reception desk, I went up and found Soren lying in bed, I think somewhat bored. He seemed pleased to see me, and asked where
cattitude was. I explained he was still at work and offered to bring him next time, and was told that was okay; I think it was a context thing. We talked a bit before
roadnotes got there, at which point Soren showed off his latest trick: lifting his right leg above the bed.
One thing I hadn't known (but am not surprised by) is that with this sort of injury, movement returns starting at the center of the body. Torso first, then thighs and shoulders, and so on. This is frustrating because it means he still can't use his right hand. He's also looking quite shaggy: well, shaggy by his standards, meaning about ten days' growth of hair on his scalp and significantly more on his face. We watched Jeopardy, and then talked a bit more. I left at 8, which is when the Daily Show comes on, something they've been watching regularly.
I made ridiculously good train connections and was in my apartment by 9. (I think I spent about 30 seconds waiting for trains, not counting the minute or less spent selecting and paying for a snack at the 14th Street station between getting off the L and onto the A.)
Part of why I picked tonight to visit Soren was that I wasn't up for a full workout. I've done some calf raises since getting home, and may add a few other bits.
