At the moment, I don't know whether I'm going to Montreal next weekend.

I have tickets for Wiscon, but (to avoid taking a 6 a.m. flight) have booked for Thursday-through-Tuesday, and am now looking around for crash space in Madison Thursday and Monday nights. I'm not worried, exactly--I'll find something plausible--just nervous in the way I am when I have significant travel uncertainties.

it's not crash space, but once when i got sidelined into madison (car problems on a road trip making me too late to catch my circus tickets in chicago) i had a really fabulous meal at a local restaurant called "l'etoile". it's a nice restaurant -- the type where the waitstaff is very dressy, but they're still exceedingly polite if you come in wearing boys' bathing trunks, sandals, and a t-shirt sporting an image of the god pan with an enormous erection. i'd been living on lucky charms and canned tuna for three days already, i admit, but the beet they gave me when i sat down was a little slice of heaven, and i don't even like beets....

(i'd intended to say something reassuring about serendipity, madison, and road trips, but it wasn't going very coherently, so please just take the above as a restaurant recommendation :)
