This one feels like "too soon to tell": advocating diplomacy and nuclear disarmament are within the general idea of what Nobel had in mind, but I'd have thought the people in Oslo would have waited to see some results. The quick discussion I've seen—people like the BBC had nice articles prepped for, say, Morgan Tsvangirai—says they wanted to encourage President Obama on that course. I don't think he needs their encouragement.

The disadvantage of taking a sick day because I am very tired, having trouble focusing, and fighting off a sore throat is that I have skipped straight to the "I'm bored, I want to be well now" part of being sick, so I have nothing particular I want to do right now (even if it weren't a gray morning).
The advantage, of course, is that I may have, in fact, skipped to that, without a bad sore throat, or fever, or whatever else it is that I am, I hope, fending off by staying home quietly today. Bored is better than bored and sneezy, or fevered, or bored and it hurts to talk.

OK, next time I will clearly need to include "so don't call on the landline because I may be trying to nap" in any post about staying home sick because I'm exhausted. The ringing phone, and then the machine picking up, are likely to wake me, or stop me from falling asleep if I'm partway there. (However, the cell phone won't disturb me, and neither will IM or email: those are fine ways of asking if I want company, or need chicken soup, or have forgotten to return a library book.)
