I set out this morning with the intention of doing nothing Halloween-related other than a minimal showing my face at the office party (it's less hassle than not): no costume, no giving out of candy, certainly no going around the office trick-or-treating (someone's innovation this year, *sigh*).
Then I got to midtown, and found people trick-or-treating for UNICEF, with a huge version of the familiar orange box. So I gave them some money; I carried those boxes a lot of years, collecting coins for charity along with candy for myself (and a coin every year from myself from the next-door neighbor who either didn't like candy or found this simpler).
