I had trouble falling asleep last night; I am going to be more careful about caffeine late in the day. (I had tea after my nap yesterday, which is to say around 5:30, later than I usually do.) Around 5 a.m. I woke and felt a bit itchy and out of sorts; I applied some cortisone cream (this isn't on or near the incisions), took half a Vicodin, and read for a bit before going back to bed. Some of the late part of last night's sleep was lying on my left side. From the way my right side (with the incisions) felt, this is not a good idea yet. I'd been sleeping only on my back.

My appetite is returning. Not for huge amounts of stuff—I had about a third as much oatmeal as I usually do when we have that for lunch, but that usual is close to two servings by the package directions—but I'm enjoying more things, and back to some interest in snacking through the day. (I've also, so far today, had a slice of Virginia ham, a piece of baguette with butter and jam, two slices of chocolate chip pumpkin bread, and a dish of ice cream and sorbet. [livejournal.com profile] julian_tiger was very pleased by that last. Also four mugs of tea and some juice.

It being Saturday, I walked down to Isham Street with [livejournal.com profile] cattitude, for the Greenmarket. Last Saturday I didn't even think of doing this. (For comparison, the round-trip is similar to the loop in the park I did a few days ago, but this time I didn't stop and sit at all.) Cattitude carried all our purchases; otherwise I'd have limited myself to a loaf of pumpkin bread, eggs, and scallops, and done without the jam, pear juice, baguette, scone, and second loaf of the pumpkin bread. I'm capable of doing quite a bit more without discomfort, but I'm going to follow the "no heavy lifting" instruction until I see the surgeon on Tuesday.

Yesterday I not only did two of my shoulder stretches, I did my yoga, which I hadn't since before the surgery. It seemed to go all right.

I wanted to nap this afternoon, but didn't actually fall asleep, just lay in bed for a bit, which may have benefited my abdominal muscles.

I'm still using the spirometer, and progress there feels slow, but it no longer hurts.
