It appears that I have an unusually distinctive telephone voice.

I just called my physical therapist's office, to see if the referral form had come through. I explained what I was calling about, and got "Yes, it has. This is Vicki, right?" before we'd gotten to my name.

My GP's receptionists are the same way, if I call for a referral or to ask about test results.

This is New York City, so it's not a matter of accent.

I spent most of yesterday on more index fixing. This time, in addition to fixing page numbers (not all of them were wrong this time, but a significant number were), I deleted a few entries that didn't belong--e.g., "Rain forest" pointed only to a bit about an Ecuadoran people who live in the rain forest, but while the term was in the headline, the material was in no sense about rain forests--and even added a couple. It keeps the task from being utterly boring, and improves the result.

Today I'm doing boring but useful stuff, involving transferring information from one place to another so Production can easily access it in a form they'll find useful. Unfortunately, this involves lots of writing with a pen, so my shoulder is not delighted.
