I would just like to note that Tropical Depression Epsilon Public Advisory 37 begins "...EPSILON WEAKENING RAPIDLY...THIS IS THE LAST ADVISORY...
...IT IS ABOUT TIME..."

I got to that point and laughed out loud. Yes, I'm weird.

Note that they had predicted it would turn into a remnant low by last weekend.

The Atlantic tropical hurricane season is officially over, which means (among other things) that they aren't issuing tropical weather outlooks, but I assume they will tell us if zeta turns up out there.

In addition to not dissipating when predicted, Epsilon holds the dubious record of the longest December Atlantic hurricane on record; fortunately, it never came near land.

I went to the dentist this morning. I had to explain to the dental assistant that no, it hadn't been three years since I'd had X-rays, because (despite the odd way my chart seems to have been maintained) I had in fact been there between mid-2003 and February of this year. (If I need X-rays, I'll have X-rays, but "we forgot you had them at $time" isn't a good reason.)

That dealt with, all went smoothly: Dr. Mahindra asked after [livejournal.com profile] cattitude, then put some of that odd orange-flavored topical anesthetic on my gums, and cleaned my teeth with the vibrating wire. After dentistry, I took advantage of proximity and stopped at the Little Pie Company on my way back to the subway. I got a croissant for second breakfast, a 5-inch Key lime pie for lunch (well, as part of lunch--and half of it is left for tomorrow), and an apple pie that we'll have for dessert in a little while. It's nice to have found someplace in this city that can make a decent croissant.

In the afternoon, my boss briefly interrupted what she and I were working on to meet with someone who she's had trouble getting time with, and I took the opportunity for a couple of clementines. When I mentioned this to Edie, she asked if they were in season already. I said yes, and then "Hang on a minute," went over to my desk, and got one for her. (I've been tossing four or five into my bag in the morning.) She ate it, and commented that these were good--it's a good box we got this time.

I went to the gym after work, easing back into things despite some shoulder pain in the afternoon. A short workout, by my usual standards, but I feel better for it.
