Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] callunav, for the first aid geeking.

I had the tea tree oil from a previous incident, when I burned myself by spilling hot soup on a denim-clad leg. [livejournal.com profile] treadpath gave it to me, along with some fresh aloe, a couple of days after I burned myself, so the 24-hour bit didn't apply.

I took a painkiller before bed last night, which was probably necessary to falling asleep. This morning, the hand only hurts if I put pressure on it. It doesn't take a lot--using that hand to rub my eyes wasn't good--but walking, typing, making and drinking tea, are all fine. It looks as though the middle finger is burned worse than the index finger, but I'm fairly sure it's a first-degree burn that was particularly problematic because there are a lot of nerve endings in the fingers. I may use more tea tree oil later (i.e. before bed, rather than taking another pill), and it might be a good idea to have aloe vera gel in the medicine cabinet, but I don't think this one is going to be a big deal.

The plan for this weekend was a relatively quiet, domestic time at home with [livejournal.com profile] cattitude. Yes, he would be working late Friday, and they might call him to troubleshoot, but there'd be time for Scrabble and conversation and domestic chores.

Instead, he got home at about 11 a.m. Saturday. I made him lunch, and then he napped a while. I had a nice chat with D. around 4, and he woke up, but wasn't alert enough for much besides computer games. I made us dinner, burning myself in the process, and we fell over.

This morning, Cattitude was still a bit behind on sleep, and got called in to work to fix something. I went out with him, we had lunch at the local diner, and then I put him on the subway, walked home through Isham Park, which has quite a bit of good fall color left, and am doing not much. The burn isn't a major issue, but it does mean I'm avoiding things like scrubbing out pots, at least for today.

When I spoke to my mother this afternoon, we were talking about finding time for getting out and doing cool things around work and other obligations. She told me that I have a lot of discipline, and she doesn't know where I got it (because she doesn't consider herself to be disciplined).

I don't think of myself as especially disciplined--and some of this may be that things look different from across an ocean. I don't post about missing the gym, or letting housework pile up, or the half-finished books lying around. (Well, I left [livejournal.com profile] livredor a comment about one of those, but that's not a half-finished book so much as one walked away from, and she mentioned it first.)
