Does anyone here have a book containing Dylan Thomas's "Notes on the Art of Poetry"? We're trying to sort out both the actual text--some of the versions we've found online have strings of commas, others have more normal ellipses--and copyright information.

For those who were questioning whether the delays in getting people out of New Orleans were deliberate: DoD is not only admitting it, they're calling it a job well done.
The excuse is that there were dangerous people in the Superdome. So they responded by making everyone else stay there longer, with no food, no water, and "gang members" threatening them. Also, they claim that they needed to search people for guns and weapons on the way out--remember that everyone who came in was searched, and had to stand in line for hours because of this.

When I went to Travelocity last night, they offered me the exact same flight at two different prices--it's an Air Canada flight, but was $10 less per person as the United codeshare. I took it (and then the Travelocity fee was half that difference).
It now transpires that United can't change the seat assignments that were made automatically, and Air Canada won't because I didn't book through them. Furthermore, the AC agent hung up on me after saying this. (Travelocity says they can't help, talk to the airline.)
I may try United again later: they gave us just what I want on the outbound, but an unsatisfactory seat for

I should have booked directly through Air Canada, I think. (The other airlines available either wanted a lot more money, didn't have direct flights, or both.)

I've been offered what the person offering it described as a "very boring" job in the social studies department. Basically, it involves tracking down lots of stuff that the company published recently, and getting details like page numbers, for a reprint edition where they've been told that specific citations are necessary.
The carrot, in addition to continuing to be employed in a reasonably convenient location (I dislike job hunting and am not very good at it), is that the woman who runs the social studies department is going to have a project she'll need permanent employees for, in a few months, and if I take this I'm likely to be hired on permanently (for whatever "permanently" means nowadays--but with paid holidays and vacation and such).
I have to give her an answer tomorrow, because if I decline, she'll need to find someone else. I have consulted my sweeties, who confirm my hunch that I should accept, so I'm going to.

If that offer of making a bird userpic still stands, here's what I'm thinking would be nice:
All three is probably excessive, but the hawk and one of the others might be nice.
- A hawk in flight against a blue sky, with the text "Bright the hawk's flight on the empty sky"
- A cardinal in flight (there are lots of cardinal pictures online, but they all seem to be perched) or
- an egret or a black-crowned night heron either flying overhead or just taking off.
All three is probably excessive, but the hawk and one of the others might be nice.
