I had what felt like an indifferent workout, but I think that's because I did little bits of things I haven't done at all in a while, and because I came to one of my standard exercises late, and thus tired, and only did one and a half sets instead of three.
Then I went over to New Balance, said hello to the salesman, and told him "I want another pair of these, 8EE please." He looked at them, went to the stockroom, and came back to tell me that the shoe is being discontinued and he didn't have my size. A replacement model will be available next month. In the meantime, he called around other local stores without success, and I tried on six or seven other pairs of shoes, none of which I liked. When I told another salesman that one of them was too tight in front and I was coming out of it in the back when I walked, he told me that other people were having the same problem with it. It's a new shoe, and I suspect will be pulled or redesigned. The salesman who was helping me has placed an order with the company, for one pair each in black and white, of the model I've been wearing. If they're available, I'll have them in "7 to 10 business days", and he'll call me when they arrive.
After all that, I soothed myself by going down to Excellent Dumpling, where I had New Year's cakes with shrimp (the vegetable on that was shredded bok choy or something similar, bland but good for me, and a bit of scallion), with a scallion pancake for dessert. I wandered a bit and picked up a pound of baby bok choy, and ten apricots (alas, not as good as their scent had led me to hope).
My feet are not happy: wandering around in beat-up old shoes, and with a damp foot for part of the morning (pre-gym), and then trying to walk in such a way as to keep that foot dry, probably isn't good for them.
( gym numbers, for the record )
