I gave up on hearing from Travelocity on how to book the tickets we needed online, and called Northwest, where a helpful person took care of the booking for me. Assuming we don't cancel (which we can do by midnight central time tomorrow),
cattitude and I have airline tickets for Minicon, complete with seat assignments. (The hotel reservation is already set.)
I have asked to have my jury duty postponed until early June, to avoid running into Passover and then Minicon if I got on a jury (the summons had been for 1 April). The current system in Manhattan is that you get one postponement for the asking, and are expected to select the new date, which should be between 2 and 6 months after the original date. This can be done with an automated phone system; if the date I asked for isn't available, they said, they'll give me the next closest. (Further postponements are now very difficult to get: by having you choose your own postponed-to date, they've eliminated the "but I can't do this one either" claims.)
Tomorrow's plans are exercise; new sneakers; and seeing if I can write a plausible cover letter for a technical writing contract job.
