[livejournal.com profile] quility emailed me last night with information about a job that looks very promising. It's writing and editing, on a scientific publication, for a nonprofit organization.

I've sent a cover letter and resume to the contact person she gave me. That person may or may not be in charge of hiring, but I figure that if she isn't, she'll either let me know who to write to, or forward the message. I used Quility's name in the cover letter.

This would be most excellent.

Now, to get on with the boring necessary crap about health insurance and eye doctor and such that was already on the "to do" for today.

So, with all this information online, I figured everything can be done nice and fast.

Not so. I called HIP and talked to someone friendly and helpful. She is, in her best helpful manner, going to put a paper application for health insurance in the mail, and I should have it in five business days. And no, it can't be retroactive to April 1: it'll start May 1. I'm going to call Aetna, even though they're $68/month more, on the off chance that they'll cover me for April. (Everyone else is a lot more expensive than either.)

Well, I was going to call Aetna. Their phone system is set up to deal only with existing customers and doctors. I might get around that, but it doesn't leave me thinking they'll be faster than HIP, so I'm not going to spend the extra. *sigh* Can I live in a civilized country, please?

On the positive side, I have just gotten another bottle of Neurontin, enough to get me through April, and I'm getting my eyes looked at tomorrow. Now I have to very carefully not get sick next month.

I've spotted daffodils in bloom in Inwood, and [livejournal.com profile] cattitude found chionodoxa (small blue, purple, and/or white star-shaped flowers) and periwinkles. Also some tiny pale-piurple flowers that I don't have a name for and can't find in the Audubon Society wildflower guide; I may talk Cattitude into taking a picture so we can all be puzzled together.

An egret was in the salt marsh this morning, the killifish have returned from wherever they return from, and the robins are singing about trees.

It is definitely Spring, and even warm and sunny to go with it.
