Okay, I have 616 words, starting with [livejournal.com profile] roadnotes's suggestion of "Chloe liked Olivia", and have set the scene and introduced two and a half of the characters. Now what? Now my right hand hurts.

I'm going to have a roomful of characters at this rate. They just keep walking into the story. Some more physical description is probably in order, though.

The purple glitter on my face had some nice effects. On the subway home, someone asked me if my face glowed in the dark. (364 days a year, that would be a really weird question.) "Unfortunately not, only in the light." And I stopped for milk on my way in, and the nice people downstairs commented on the makeup, and we chatted a little about Halloween and how I hadn't had to trick or treat, my friend had brought candy to the party.

Progress, if that's the word I'm looking for, goes here. Actually, progress goes in word processor files. Progress reports go here. I know there's a community for nanowrimo, or maybe two or three of them. I find I don't want to join it. Which is weird. I've posted to some of the forums on the
NaNoWriMo web site, though I suspect them of being another way to not actually write this whatever-it-is (Science fiction? Some odd kind of romance?). So it goes here. Not actual novel excerpts, just mutterings about the work in progress.
