I've been organizing extremely casual get-togethers at my favorite ice cream parlor for the last couple of years. Last night, it was just me and Avram--odd how few people realize the attractions of a hot fudge sundae on a rainy evening.
On the window of Peter's Ice Cream, there is now a sign, which starts "Thank You Brooklyn" before explaining that, after 29 years, they're going to be closing because they can't afford the rent increase that the landlord wants. So we have good, varied, home-made ice cream, but only until the end of March. I wonder if I could convince them to mix up one more container of Mexicho before they go.
