[livejournal.com profile] cattitude is done working for Microsoft. He gave notice in the middle of April, and his last day was the 30th. No, we don't know what comes next, except that it won't be right away: the first order of business is some time off and not setting the alarm clock.

Meanwhile, I've had a bit less freelance work than I was expecting this past week. That was good early in the week, while Adrian was here, but at this point I want to wrap up the chapter I'm editing on so I can send it in, send them an invoice, and maybe start another. (We're waiting for answers to specific questions from the client; I suspect there's maybe an hours' work after that, and I've been waiting for several days.)

I have heard from another company that wants freelance math copyediting and proofreading; the next step is going to be a short copyediting test. Then (assuming I do well on it) I get to find out how much work they are looking to send out, and how regularly. I would like something that's likely to go long-term (my part of the math project I've been posting about will probably end sometime in August), but I need to keep an eye on workload, rather than have two clients each expecting 30 hours of my time in the same week.

I did PT yesterday, so only a relatively brief workout this morning, because there's significant overlap between the strengthening part of the current PT regimen and my workouts:

4/30: Morning PT session, about the same pattern and weights as last time, but I took the shrugs up to 13.5 pound weights in each hand (using wrist weights for the odd 3.5) on the last set, at my request. (I'd done 15 pounds last week, and then I reduced everything for my homework/workouts in the intervening week because I felt as though I had overdone something at that session, and there was no good way to tell which.) Still doing ultrasound and ice.

Hamstring bridge, 4 sets of 9
Psoas stretch, one pair—stopped after one because the right shoulder wasn’t happy when I got close to the floor with the right foot
A bit of balance stuff lying on the foam roller (Molly was being all snuggly-not-really-helpful during this entire round of floor stuff.)

5/1:

Squats, 3 sets of 15
Calf raises, 3 sets of 15
Crunches, 3 sets of 15
Biceps curls 15 pounds left hand, 10 pounds right, 3 sets of 12
Triceps pulldown 20 pounds, 2 sets of 12
Lat pulldown 40 pounds, 2 sets of 12 [This works the same or similar muscles to something I do at PT, but I decided it was different enough that I could include it.)
Leg curls 85 pounds, 3 sets of 12

I've been aiming for/pushing toward three full sets on the leg curls. Memo to self: make sure I can do that consistently for a few sessions before thinking about increasing the weight.

I started strength training in 2012, was ill till this February so I had to start back at the very beginning, I am only started to do just a little dumbbells because I just got out of double frozen shoulders and it was painful.

My muscles have atrophied to a degree where my arm muscles are so tiny and in pain.

I have worked on my legs though and am they are so much better, I have a spinning bike in my basement. I am no where near were I was in 2012. But one day I hope to regain my strength.

Do you like it or do you hate it? I find that I sometimes like it and sometimes hate it. lol.

On the I am trying a work out from a spin class, beginner, I go for about 5 mins, then I switch to a harder resistance for 30 seconds, then switch to a lower resistance for 30 seconds. I do this for a certain time period which now is 35 mins then 5 mins cool down at a lower resistance.

From what I read, it is hard for the muscles to get used to that and I will not have to add time on it, if I get used to it, and at this point it is still really challenging my muscles, I can up the tension instead of adding time. And I am not sure if my time is ok, or too long. I have no idea what I am doing.

I went to PT for my shoulders but since the nature of why they were frozen the PT only made it worse.

So then after the bike I do some exercises, like sit ups and leg lifts (I should do squats but I am exhausted by then) and then about three times a week some dumbbells.

At some point I plan on getting a trainer but not now, I am not sure what I should be doing at this point and don't want to get injured. The PT people were unaware of my medical situation so I assume that a trainer would know less.

Not setting the alarm clock is always a consummation devoutly to be wished.

Oh, my - that sounds potentially rather stressful. I do hope that things go smoothly for the two of you. Please let us know if there's anything we can do to help.
