The trip was surprisingly smooth, meaning I had a lot of extra time at Logan, because I allowed for a delay at security, and there was almost no line. Almost nobody was masking, alas -- I risked buying and eating lunch and then a cup of tea, putting on a medical mask when I paused for more than a moment. Mostly I was wearing an N95, but the useful lifespan of those is partly a matter of how many times it is removed and then put on again. The Air Canada gate agents were handing masks to people who arrived without them -- the Canadian government still requires masks on airplanes and in some areas of airports--but those of us who arrived masked had to lower the mask for a moment so the gate agents could check identification before we got on the plane.
There was a ridiculously long line for the STM ticket machines at the Montreal airport, but fortunately I had a lot of coins from previous trips; I dropped six of those into the farebox of the 747 bus, receiving a paper ticket that also covered the subway and local bus to
rysmiel's place, and any other transit I use within 24 hours. (Usually, I use the ticket machine, and put that fare on an Opus card.)
We have had sushi, and a pleasant evening, and now I am eating chocolate and poking around online for a little while. (
cattitude and
adrian_turtle are happily eating things I don't like, such as chard.)
Almost nobody on the airport bus was masked, alas. I understand the desire to unmask after however many hours of travel. I took my own off for a few minutes between getting off that bus and going into the metro station. There were other masked people in the metro and on the 90 bus from there to rysmiel's apartment.
