This isn't about what I do, only about where I do it:

There are far too many fluorescent lights, and not nearly enough natural light: I usually have a headache by mid-afternoon, and today's didn't go away after work, or even after I'd taken the railroad back into the city, stopped off at Lush, and come uptown. (Granted, the police van making loudspeaker announcements about the anonymous tips hotline as I was walking home from the subway didn't help.)

The only good side of that is that I'm making a point of getting outside at lunchtime, even on cool, gray days when I've brought a sandwich and eaten it inside. So I spent some time watching rabbits, one of which jumped up and tried to land on a windowsill, but bounced right off again. Also, there were a lot of snails on and around the front steps of the building at lunchtime and after work, with shells in a variety of shades: brown-and-cream, dark brown-and-yellow, reddish, and even a yellowish green. The ones that were moving around had visible tails sticking out the back of the shells, as well as the head (with antennae) at the front. The yellow-and-brown ones looked exactly like the kind I smashed outside [livejournal.com profile] the_gardener and [livejournal.com profile] headgardener's home a few years ago; I'm not at all sure whether I'm looking at several different species of snail, or just different color morphs in a single population. If it's still cool and gray tomorrow, I'm going out with my magnifying glass at lunchtime.

Oh, and once again my ticket was not collected/punched on the way back to Manhattan this evening.
