Praise then darkness, and creation unfinished

For the first time in 400 years, a mishoon, or traditional canoe has been made and launched in Boston, by members of the Nipmuc and Massachusett tribes. I think this is what I've heard called a "dugout" canoe, in contrast with birchbark canoes.
