It's June, so Artemis was due for her physical.
She complained about being put in the carrier, but calmed down as soon as the car started to move. (Car service: she doesn't mind the subway, but hates being carried to the subway, because the carrier rocks as I walk.)
The good news: "she doesn't look a day over ten", according to Dr. Luckow. (She's 16.)
Then he weighed her. Eight pounds. Which is a perfectly reasonable weight for a cat--except that she weighed 11 pounds a year ago. So he asked permission to take blood, which is now off somewhere, where they will test for a variety of things. He has our home number, and both our mobile numbers, and I'm to call tomorrow afternoon if I don't hear from him by 3:00.

I just called his office, and discovered that he's not in on Wednesdays. The receptionist did assure me that if it were an emergency, he would have either left a message for her to call me, or called us from home that evening. (And by then Andy was home and would have gotten such a call.)
So I relax a bit, and call tomorrow morning.
