I did my Friday half day (summer hours), then went down to Chinatown for lunch. Since working out right after lunch isn't a great move, I stopped at Union Square--cucumbers and little red plums--walked over to Sixth Avenue, cashed a check, then down to the Jefferson Market Library to pick up a book. And then I went to the gym. It was a reasonable workout; I didn't push too hard, because I hadn't been in two weeks (my exercise in Montreal was walking, stretches, some shoulder strengthening stuff, and one set of squats).

Cardio, 20 minutes + 2 cooldown, top heart rate 144
Chest press, 65 pounds, 11
Leg press, 230 pounds, 2 sets of 15
Balance ~fly, 50 pounds, 2 sets of 15 with each leg forward. (I'd have done 55 pounds if there was an incremental weight handy, but 65 seemed like a bad idea.)
Slanted calf raise, 60 pounds, 3 sets of 15

Crunches, 3 sets of 30
Back arches, 3 sets of 17
Tree, 5 sets of {3 on each leg}

Balance lateral raise, 5 pounds each hand, 15; 2.5 pounds each, 15
Squats on that balance hemisphere, holding 9-pound body bar to help me balance, 2 sets of 15
Bicep curls, 10 pounds each hand, 2 sets of 20

Stretches



I had sweated so much just walking around before going to the gym that after I showered, I tossed the shirt I'd been wearing in the bag with my dirty gym clothes, and put on the bright blue T-shirt I'd picked up while walking from the bank to the library. That wasn't why I bought it--I just liked the color, and the T-shirts at that shop are $3 each (or 4 for $10) and reasonably well-made.
