I got back to the gym today. I felt more energetic while I was there, but it didn't last long once I left, and my heel started complaining about the walk. (Feh.) Nonetheless, weightlifting and cardio are good for me physically as well as mentally.

Afterwards, I had lunch in Chinatown, then stopped at the local library to return a slightly overdue book. I now owe the library fifty cents, because their cash register was down (apparently exact change wouldn't help in this case; the next time I borrow something the system will note the fifty cents and I can pay it then).

Cardio, 20 minutes, top heart rate 160; around 144 for most of the workout. I wonder idly whether there's any gain, or for that matter problem, in being significantly above the "target heart rate" calculated based on my age.

Chest press, 70 pounds, 12, 8
Calf raise, 77.5 pounds, 13, 12; 72.5 pounds, 12
Leg press, 310 pounds, 12; 300 pounds, 2 sets of 15. 310 was difficult, 300 felt right. I want to get back to the 320 I was at in July, and then continue to increase. Patience.
Adjustable row, 80 pounds, 3 sets of 15. Based on how the third set felt, when I was paying attention to form, I suspect I was slacking/leaning back until then.

Crunches, 3 sets of 30
Back arch, 3 sets of 17
Tree, 4 sets of {3 on each leg}

Balance lateral raise, 5 pounds each hand, 15; 2.5 pounds each, 2 sets of 15 (left elbow still isn't entirely well)
Wrist curl, 35 pounds, 2 sets of 15; 30 pounds, 15
Hip adduction, 110 pounds, 11, 8
Hip abduction, 90 pounds, 12, 11
Bicep curl, 30-pound bar, 2 sets of 20; 20-pound bar, 26
