After working out today, I walked over to Ninth Avenue, looked at a few possible places to have lunch, and then wound up at what had been a semi-regular haunt, before I stopped working in that neighborhood and then started taking my after-gym lunches in Chinatown.

On the way over, I assisted some thoroughly lost tourists. I heard them unsuccessfully approach two other people before they got to me. They were looking for Horatio Street. I explained that they were in the wrong neighborhood: Horatio Street is in the Village. They then asked whether the Chocolate Bar is there and I said yes. (I'm not entirely sure it's on Horatio, but it's certainly in that part of town, not the Theatre District or Hell's Kitchen. I threw in quick subway directions, and left them to decide what they were going to do.

I am a well-fed [livejournal.com profile] redbird, with plenty of good Thai food and some fresh watermelon.

Yes, the new daypack will hold my gym gear, a book, and my notebook. This is good.

This workout was better than Monday's, though still not as complete as I'd like.

Cardio, 23 minutes, top heart rate 148

Chest pres, 75 pounds, 11; 70 pounds, 11.
Calf lift, 75 pound, 13, 10; 70 pounds, 13
Leg press, 300 pounds, 3 sets of 15. I want to get these back to the slower, steadier routine I was doing before the plantar fasciitis made me take a break and reduce the weight for a while, but I'm glad to have done sets of 15 reps the first day back at 300 pounds.

Adjustable row, 80 pounds, 3 sets of 15
Balance ~fly, 50 pounds, 2 sets of 15 (I think I did one with each leg forward, but am not completely sure)

Crunches, 3 sets of 30
Back arch, 3 sets of 17
Tree, 4 sets of {3 on each leg}

Balance lateral raise, 5 pounds each hand, 3 sets of 15
Hip adduction, 115 pounds, 12, 10 (it occurred to me that I'd been at 110 pounds on this for a long time, so I increased it slightly)
Hip adduction, 95 pounds, 2 sets of 12
Bicep curls, 30-pound bar, 25, 16. I stopped because my forearms were feeling sore. Since the only things in the queue after this would have been wrist curls and bicep pulldowns, I ended the workout there.

Your post makes me
1. guilty - I havn't exercised for a week because of the heat
2. (slightly) homesick - I used to love the restaurants on 9th avenue. Do they still have Cuban-Chinese greasy spoons there: re-fried beans and chicken chow mein - yum!
