[livejournal.com profile] kythryne just sent me her photo of the brooch pendant I made this morning, while [livejournal.com profile] elisem was teaching us some wire-wrapping techniques:

That's *very* nice.

And jewelry is one of those things I have a hard time being anything but strictly honest about. This is something which, if I saw it in a store, I would stop to look longer. Nice balance.

You know, some artists never understand that.

It's beautiful.

That's lovely. Brooch, pendant or both? And how is the stone affixed?

It would be easy to make it wearable as a brooch -- just make a silver pin that would go through the pendant loop, through the fabric of what you're wearing it on, and then come back through the wire at the base (that is, not a straight pin, but one that is bent to do that sort of manuever.) You can make one out of silver wire -- with a bead as the "head" if you want.

Very nice! Having watched the Lioness wrapping wire, I'm especially impressed if that's a first attempt!

Did you have the design of the smaller wires in mind before wiring?

There's something about the arrangement of the beads that is appealing. I am not sure how to express it but my eyes get drawn in and want to keep exploring the design.

It is also just fun to see how different people handle the wire. Have only seen a few pieces that others have done, which would not necessarily be indicative. But, I've been noticing more linear work, spiderwebby. Curious.

I started, viney? Lots of curves, sometimes tightly woven and sometimes more space, sometimes intermixed.. movement pause movement pause.

Thank you for posting this.

That's lovely. Like the others said, I really like the way the shape of the pendant kind of reflects the shape of the large bead. It looks like it was a lot of fun to make, too (and I love the colors).

A beautiful setting for a beautiful stone!

Very pretty - I like the way the colours chase each other around.

By the way, how's your foot. I have been doing the same exercise and it has made a big difference in my pain at night.

Ooooh, nice! It's very organic looking.

looks good, yes, and especially so for a first attempt; i really like the shifted echo of the larger bead / overall shape. but i can also see why you're not entirely satisfied. except that i am not sure what it is, just that it keeps saying to me "wants something". it could be something about the distances of the 3 smaller beads to the large one.

did you draw a design first or did you just go ahead and let the fingers do their thing?
