More boring medical updates (nothing being wrong)
I saw my GP today. She confirmed my feeling that I'm breathing basically okay. I based this on ease in climbing a hill on the way to lunch yesterday, and on how my workout went. She based it on what I said about my workout, and on listening to me take deep breaths. It turns out she's not equipped to do the asthma test, so she wrote me a referral to a pulmonologist; I'll call them and see about an appointment either for next week (if transit is settled by then) or after my trip to Montreal.
My blood pressure is a more reasonable 130/80; I'd like the systolic back down to 110 or so, but 130 isn't a number they'll worry about. My referral for an eye exam (just because it's been a while and I'd like new glasses) is in the mail, I am told. The anti-fungal cream I forgot to get the prescription for last time will be ready for pickup in the morning.
I just went into the bedroom and did my shoulder strengthening exercises. More precisely, I did one of the pull-sideways ones, then moved to the one where I pull away from the door. That hurt. I came back in here, and started to describe it to
adrian_turtle, leading me to realize that it felt like an upper-arm muscle, not the rotator cuff. Okay, that's probably left over from biceps and triceps exercises at the gym yesterday. Skip to next exercise. So I did the other pull-sideways one (one is away from the body, the other is toward) and finished with the one where I face the door and pull backwards, which resembles what I do with the cable-style adjustable row machine at the gym. All good, but I don't think I'm going to do the diagonal across the body one tonight.
Physical therapy tomorrow morning, assuming either that there's no transit strike or that my physical therapist and enough of his office staff can make it in anyway.
In case of a strike, I have the relevant computer file in my home email box, and one volume of the textbook in my bag. Only one because Edie didn't want to overload me and strain my shoulder. If, as seems entirely possible, tomorrow morning's news is "well, they're still talking and things are still running," I will leave that volume here, go to work, and work on other volumes (there are a total of 16).
