The good news is that the tingling in my left hand and arm has gone away. Or maybe not: about five minutes after posting this, I had a tingling on the outside (pinky) edge of that hand.

The not so good news is that the fingernail I was worried about detached itself almost entirely while I was in a restaurant bathroom this afternoon; I've bandaged it, on the theory that even an almost-detached fingernail is probably better protection than nothing at all. I am going to take [livejournal.com profile] papersky's suggestion and stock up on cloth band-aids, and [livejournal.com profile] adrian_turtle's advice and look for some loose-fitting mittens so I won't have to put snug gloves over it while it heals.

About the detaching fingernail--ouch, sympathy. When I had what was possibly a similar problem, in addition to bandaiding it, I used a fingernail patching kit that I found in the drugstore's cosmetic section to stabilize and reinforce the nail as it healed.

I know you have lots of other things to worry about, but have you thought about whether the position of your hands on the keyboard might relate to this? I don't think you touched a keyboard all weekend, and the tingling went away. You went home and caught up on LJ for an hour, and it started to come back. Maybe you should ask about ergonomics when you see the physical therapist next week.

It sounds like you have managed to invoke sod's law. Specifically the part of it that says "Telling people that a health problem has improved guarantees it will come back" :/

Uh, but [livejournal.com profile] adrian_turtle is right to think it could be ergonomics.
