My time here has been extended through December, with indications that they might want me longer. Jane won't be interviewing for the next project until December, however, and what Catherine needs over in science is more people now, not in January.

Meanwhile, there was apparently a social meal, on a boat, for a couple of hundred of my co-workers, one of whom was startled to discover I hadn't been invited. Personally, while I believe it was a nice buffet, I file not being invited as one of the small benefits of being a temp. Nonetheless, I should probably ask what email lists are being used, lest I miss something that would actually be of interest or value to me.

I read you!

It's nice to not have to go to the required social events because you're the temp, isn't it? OTOH, the other folks just dragged me upstairs for free smoothies, which was nice. Mmmmm...mango pineapple.

That's one thing I like about my part-time job. The Ghodawful weekly staff meetings are Tuesday mornings at ten and I work two to six. I pointed out to the boss that I get paid by the hour and sometimes the meetings run to four hours. (For someone who has worked on sf conventions, it feels like a four-hour root canal.) But when the company feels like going out for drinks after work, I'm there.
