I'm happy to report that plain yogurt and green grapes are an excellent combination. Since I discovered how much nicer whole milk yogurt is than low-fat, I've been having a fine time experimenting with flavors that you can't get in those commercial six-to-eight-ounce cups of low-fat yogurt. Most of this week, I had canteloupe in my yogurt, but I used that up Wednesday. Hence, grape this morning. (I used jam in between.)

Today, not only are my hands complaining about all the copy-and-paste work, but my eyes have been watering. Chatting with [livejournal.com profile] alanro last night, I said that if my hands weren't feeling better Monday morning, I would go to Edie, tell her I can't keep doing this, and ask if she has any other projects. And, if not, thank her and quit.

This may be precipitous; conversely, it may be basic self-protection. The underlying hypothesis is that if a weekend of more-or-less rest, including some computer use but not lots of copy-and-paste among spreadsheets, makes them feel better, I can file it under "overused muscles" and not worry too much. If it doesn't, I'll be a lot more worried about RSI.

A couple of suggestions

I get pain in my hands sometimes from cut and paste. What I do is to switch my mouse to my left hand, which helps a hell of a lot. Admittedly, I taught myself to mouse left-handed some time ago, when I had an injury, but it's really useful to be able to do so. Are you doing everything with the mouse? I find it helps to alternate between five minutes of mouse work and five minutes of keyboard cut and paste, if the program you're using allows keyboard shortcuts.

If all else fails

You can control things by using "mouse keys". You can set that up in Control Panel, under Accessibility. I think you can leave that set up without disabling the mouse. The disadvantage is that you can't use the NumLock, but you can restore it later.

This is Excel?

cursor keys to walk around a sheet; shift&cursor keys to select an area; control-C to copy, control-X to cut; control-V to paste. Control-page-up/down to move between sheets in a workbook.
Alt-w & down/enter to change workbooks.

In Excel et al. I use the keyboard far more quickly than the mouse. It's the most frustrating thing about Mac interfaces--the keyboard shortcuts are harder to find, sometimes.

I got kinda hooked on yogurt while enduring two years of braces recently. AnnaV and you both pointed out that plain yogurt with fresh fruit beats the flavored stuff, so that's what I'm experimenting with now. I was surprised to learn that the Jonagold apples from my tree are good for this. I hope the raspberries and blueberries do better next year.

Now that Yoplait finally perfected chocolate yogurt I can convince myself I'm having dessert for lunch if it's been a bad day. Sometimes little indulgences help.

I like things like blackcurrant cordial in my yoghurt (I'm also a whole-milk plain yoghurt fan). Ribena doesn't work, as it's too sweet, so I'm always on the hunt for cordials with lots of real fruit and not so much sugar.
