Who on Earth told Dubya that it was a good idea to start a land war in Asia?

Awhile back, I saw an image of one of the earlier (but post 9/11) anti-war demonstrations that was manipulated to have Vizzini stuck in there. The various participants carried signs like "US OUT OF IRAQ" and "NO WAR" and, of course, one said, "NEVER START A LAND WAR IN ASIA."

And Afghanistan. Yeah, that was my thought, too.

Although, do you think that's why they're so eager to invade Iran? Because, right now, we're fighting two wars. If they invade Iran, then they're only fighting ONE war, because Iraq and Afghanistan are separated by Iran, and if they're fighting all three, then they're contiguous.

Well, Wallace Shawn is (I believe) a Democrat, so it wasn't him...

I bet his daughters have seen it. Do you suppose they quote lines from it to each other and giggle at the family dinner table?

On earth? It was the same aliens who told Saddam it was a good idea to start a land war in Asia.

I'm guessing its the same guy he has who told him to ignore that protest outside his ranch.

He doesn't believe he's starting it. (At least that's what it looks like from here, peeking between my fingers. I admit I can't bear to watch very closely.) Too many people in positions of power seem to buy into their own propaganda about being helpless victims acting in self-defense. According to that model, the more "they" attack us, the more we are justified taking extraordinary measures against "them" to defend ourselves.

Perhaps he made a bet with Sylvio Berlusconi? (and death is definitely on the line, as far as Iraq is concerned....)

(Okay, so Berlusconi is not Sicilian. Sue me.)
