For the first time since I started the current gig at McGraw-Hill, I left the building for lunch today (rather than either bringing a sandwich, or buying lunch in the company cafeteria and eating it there).
I went to Excellent Dumpling, in Chinatown.
My office is at 2 Penn Plaza, basically above Penn Station. But I haven't found anything reasonable in the area--sure, sandwiches and a "toss your own salad" set-up in the LIRR concourse at Penn Station, and delis that offer the same sort of stuff I can get in the company cafeteria. But I wanted a real meal at a decent price, and I have an unlimited Metrocard. So I walked over to 34th and Sixth, took the N down to Canal, and was seated in the usual place and got my almost-inevitable sweet ginger duck over rice.
On the way back to the train, I bought a pound of cherries.
