Thinking vaguely about a new tattoo

By vaguely, I mean I'm thinking "another tattoo might be nice" and even, occasionally, "I could look at that shop's portfolio," but I have no idea of what tattoo/image I want, or where on my body I want it. But I did think, yesterday, that it might be nice to see if one could be done all in colors, with blue or purple instead of black for the outlining.

I will go to Hawaii to get my next tattoo. I've been wanting something to mark my long association with the state and culture; it was a huge influence on me as a kid and adolescent. I think I'll do something delicate, but I'm not sure where. I'd like a Polynesian design style.

Having finally articulated to myself exactly WHY I want a tattoo I will probably go ahead with it after worldcon. I know what design I want (it's a particularly elegant spiral motif) but now I can't decide where to put it. I'd like it to be where I can see it myself and where other people can see it too. I'm thinking the inside of the forearm but am not yet completely decided.

Yes. I've been sort of going hmmm....another bird? vines?....dinosaur?...trilobite? (that's the most recent thought)...
