We are a nation of minorities and in a nation of minorities, it is important that you don't cherry pick rights. A right is a right and that is what this vote tonight is all about.— Canadian PM Paul Martin
This morning on the radio they had someone from one of those hate-is-a-family-value type group talking about the Supreme Court's recent decision on the showing of the Ten Commandments. She made the usual arguments about how the US has always been a Judeo-Xtian country and most Americans say they believe in God (last I heard, not necessarily in any God she'd recognize, but whatever) and this was exactly what I was thinking. The COnstitution isn't there to put the majority's values into place, it's there to ensure that the minority's rights are not overlooked.
