Counter-intuitive

We have dug out a mouse to replace my decidedly right-handed trackball, plugged it in, and set it on the left side of my keyboard. I have also told my computer to use it left-handed (which is a matter of which mouse button does what) and to slow the double-click speed.

I'm not sure of how much of its being counterintuitive is that I am right-handed, and literally less dextrous with the left hand, and how much of it is years of habit, and now reaching with my right hand for a trackball that I've set aside and that isn't plugged in anyhow.

I'm right-handed and do the left-handed mouse thing. Normal mousing is fine with either hand and, after a bit of awkwardness after switching, it feels natural to be mousily ambidextrous. 2D artwork still has to be done with my right hand though, just the same as with pen and pencil. I switch to the right when drawing, and the left when sculpting stuff. At least part of this seems to apply to mousing too.

My employer had an ergonomics expert come in last month and tell me to mouse left-handed. That lasted about a day and a half. I use a lot of Excel spreadsheets and was having trouble clicking onto the proper cell. I hope you have more success than I did.

I mouse with my left hand at home and my right hand at work. I have no trouble switching. I may have had trouble in the beginning, but I can't remember.
