redbird: Angolan sable, a rare antelope (Angolan sable)
([personal profile] redbird May. 5th, 2005 10:51 pm)
While it hasn't gotten as much press here as the Ivory-billed woodpecker, the Angolan sable had not been seen since 1974--until a few weeks ago, when images of a herd, including young and two pregnant females, were photographed in an abandoned gamepark.

This is my new "not dead yet" icon.

That is so very cool.

Hooray for things that aren't dead yet!

Ah.

So (two events making a clear pattern to an SF reader) clearly Gaia is bringing things back.

How long before the dodo?

How long before the dinosaurs?

That's an interesting thought. Suppose the planet has species waiting in reserve and releases them when we're not looking. And suppose she's fond of one or two or several and just brings them back.
