[livejournal.com profile] cattitude checked this morning and saw that he should be receiving a UPS delivery of books some time today. I've been at home most of the day--mostly doing exciting things like coughing and looking at want ads--but went outside for a little while in mid-afternoon (29°C and sunny, and expected to be maybe 15 tomorrow), just strolling in the park across the street.

I hurried home and back upstairs: I was inside while the driver was still in the UPS truck.

That was an hour ago. I don't know whether the driver somehow sped up after his previous leisurely few minutes of work inside the truck and determined that I wasn't answering the buzzer, or our package wasn't actually on the truck. Either way, I am annoyed: it was nice out there next to the willow tree, but I was willing to head in because I was expecting to be well into Sorcery and Cecelia by now.

Seems like it's the Journee du Mal UPS today. One of my favorite grad students was in earlier, bitching about the package she was finally picking up, after UPS had refused to leave it at her place, and the usual dance of not being able to hook up at the damned UPS facility. I really only like them because we have an onsite management company that can accept packages.

Instant gratification just isn't fast enough.
