odd moment

I spent parts of Greg and Ellie's party last night agreeing, loudly, with PNH on assorted political matters. Somewhere in there, I observed that I don't believe in the inevitability of anything in human history, progress included, and P's response was "Then you're not a Marxist." Okay, true, but I don't think I ever claimed to be. Left, certainly. Socialist, maybe. But not a Marxist. Not an anybody-ist.
