An appointment calendar isn't much use if you don't look at it.
Fortunately, I did look at my email this morning, and found that
athenais had sent me a note, pointing out that we hadn't settled the details of our date for this evening, and giving me her cell phone number.
I called her, and we eventually settled on meeting in the lobby of the place I work, and then deciding. That decision wound up being Grand Sichuan, where we ate fresh chicken with a spicy sauce whose name I don't remember (Aozhou?) and eggplant with pork and garlic sauce, and talking. Topics included life, people, hair and not coloring same, The Gates, work, and the difference between agreeing that the Bush administration is evil and concluding from that that anyone who voted for Dubya is evil. (I cling to the hope that they are merely misinformed.) Oddly, I don't think we discussed books.
After large quantities of good food, I walked her to the N/R station at 49th Street, ducked into the IRT a block away, and came home, proofreading on the subway.
