I didn't even leave work until almost six, so this was pretty minimal.

Cardio, 12 minutes (a bit more than minimum warmup): top heart rate 138

Then I did the Xpressline, and cheerfully jotted down all the numerical settings (so I can take them to a different branch of the gym, handier to work, if I want), but didn't bother with the machine names/descriptions:

  1. Seated leg press: -/5/8; 390 pounds, 12 reps. Not an easy 12, though the last two were easier, after the trainer pointed out that I should have my feet closer together

  2. Leg extension: M/5/-; 80 pounds, 10 reps

  3. Seated leg curl: M/5/-; 110 pounds, 12 reps (not counting 4 reps I did at 80 because someone distracted the trainer and she read the wrong line of the chart

  4. Lat pulldown: 3/-/6.5; 105 pounds, 8 reps, only did that many out of bloody-mindedness because the instructions for this approach say to do 8 to 12 of each

  5. Overhead press: -/-/3.5; 35 pounds, 12 reps

  6. Vertical chest press: -/3/3.5; 40 pounds, 12 reps

  7. Bicep curls: -/5/6; 40 pounds, 12 reps (but my left wrist was misaligned and doing work my biceps should have: when the trainer spotted that, the last two reps were harder

  8. Tricep curls: -/5/6; 40 pounds, 12 reps

The settings are to do with seat back positions and seat height, and are what the gym uses on its Xpressline charts. They aren't in any standard units like meters or inches, they're the positions on the various Nautilus machines. I'm using dashes for settings that the machine in question doesn't have, though it does give some of the entries the look of pre-decimalisation British currency.

And then I stretched, showered, and came home. Not even crunches.

Great minds...

I started back today, too, after the same amount of time away. So far so good...I've only lost one limb, but my head is still screwed on...
