Good one.

But she knew they'd do it to the story. What's both intolerable and unnecessary is claiming it's what she wanted.

"Hello, Jo? This is Megastudio. Listen, about this script for The King's Peace? Marketing says that the adolescent male demographic really doesn't dig chicks with swords, so we're going to make Sulien a guy."

This is why when I get anything from film people, I hide it until it's too late to reply and then throw it away. Because I might need the money, but I wouldn't take it from people who wanted to put nails into my head either.

That's a particularly good imaginary example of studio inanity, not just for utterly missing the point of the book, but also since as far as I can tell, the adolescent male demographic does dig chicks with swords.

Thanks, I was wondering about those completely inept, utterly non-Earthsea scenes and fragments in the ads. They can't mean THAT Earthsea, I kept thinking. And of course I was right. They don't mean THAT Earthsea, they just think they do, the complacent clowns.

~g~ Thank you. I've seen that before, but I've no objection at all to as many people as possible seeing it.

And I have no idea what that director-person thinks he's actually saying. It makes no sense to me at all!
