Damp hair is somewhat annoying, but I don't mind it much. (I suspect Jay would mind more if we went to bed at the same time, but we don't: by the time he's come to bed, things are dry.)
On the other hand, my hair's waist length: if I wash it in the morning, I either have to do heat (and damaging) things to it to make it dry, or go out with it wet (not such a huge problem in the summer, icy in the winter.) I usually find it's about half dry within 20-30 minutes (so it's damp to the touch, but not dripping water everywhere) if I bathe at night.
Plus, there's the whole 'have a nice relaxing bath before bed' aspect.
