Sure, we can talk. Tell me what you're looking for, either specifically (author and/or title) or generally, and I'll let you know whether it matches what I'm deaccessioning. (I think you know I'm in the US, but I'm not sure if that increases or reduces the postage costs.)

This post is "personal to [livejournal.com profile] pleonastic" because I decided it made more sense to answer zir comment here than in [livejournal.com profile] papersky's already-long comment thread. But the offer is open to others, if anyone actually wants to buy my used books enough to pay shipping plus a little.

Re: Personal to pleonastic: books

i thought you might have stuff you were reading for the tiptree, and that sort of thing interests me a lot -- anything that does unusual things with gender. in general i am interested in SFF, more in speculative fic than in fantasy, much more in social/psychological than in hard. i also read a lot of mysteries (here, too, the more psychological it is, the better). not so much fiction these days, but some. no energy for difficult literature (alas, pynchon). even more general, i hardly read any short stories these days; almost only novels.

i have a long list of books that i am looking for in specific which i should really put online at some point. but i buy a lot of stuff that i've not been looking for, if it feels interesting when i pick it up.

if you have a list of what you're selling, that would rock.

and as i said, i'd be happy to pay you a decent price for the books (plus shipping, of course); i can certainly pay better than the average used bookstore (here they pay a max of 1/4 of cover price, and sell at 1/2, for paperbacks). shipping books from the US is no more expensive than shipping them within canada, which is perverse, but hey.

If you posted it when you were here for New Year, that would be cheaper than posting it at home.

I think.

Re: Personal to pleonastic: books

oh yeah, completely no hurry. and really, if it's too much effort for you, don't worry about it. just offering if it's for mutual benefit, ya know?

good female protagonists is fine, even if not ground-breaking. :) "it's an award, i am going to apply" might spell the sort of cluelessness that doesn't make for good books at all, but then the people sending it might not be the author.

oh, and send me your mailing address, will you? the jar openers have arrived!

Heh. I had to re-read several times, as I read "personal to pleonastic" as an encyclopedia cover.
